FORKAMI
(Forum Komunikasi Kualitas Air Minum Indonesia)
General information. FORKAMI was declared
in July 2000 as a commitment of professionals and individuals
concerned with the development of water quality management
in Indonesia. FORKAMI was initiated in cooperation with
the German Development Cooperation Project on Drinking
Water Quality Surveillance (GTZ-DWQS Project).
Goals. FORKAMI intended
to provide a dialog mechanism among all stakeholders,
which can guarantee an efficient and effective cooperation
to achieve the goal of safe and healthy drinking water
supply service for the community.
Mission.
• Create a platform for information exchange for
all the stakeholders in drinking water quality management,
• Mediate in between the stakeholders to solve
the problems arising in water quality management,
• Provide advice and relevant information to institutions
and decisions makers on the development and implementation
of policies and strategies.
Members. Currently,
FORKAMI’s members consist of individuals working
in the field of drinking water quality management, professionals
and experts who are independent, based on a non-bireaucratic
status.

KAI
(Kemitraan Air Indonesia)
General
information.The Indonesian Water Forum II was
conducted during the celebration of the World Water
Day, March 21, 2002 at Sapta Taruna Meeting Room of
Ministry of Settlement and Regional Infrastructure.
This event was attended by some 200 persons consisting
of representatives of NGO (Non Government Organization),
university/academia, profesional organizations, users,
experts, consultants, contractors and central and provincial
government institutions. Indonesian Water Forum II also
agreed to form an Indonesian Water Partnership (IWP).
Source of fund for operation of IWP will come from member
contributions and from domestic as well as foreign sponsors.
Goals. Indonesian Water
Partnership is aims to establish synergy and cooperation
among government institutions, communities, professional
organizations, academia, NGOs and other stakeholders
related to water to establish a common direction for
future efforts which will be carried out either in partnership
or independently by the partners according to their
respective missions. The objective is realize the benefits
of sustaining water for human welfare and that the use
of ecosystems are performed in efficiently and sustainably.
Expected outputs. A
functioning independent organization to effect synergy
and cooperation among government institutions, communities,
professional organizations, academia, NGOs and other
stakeholders related to water with a common concern
and commitment to integrated water resources management
and the sustainable management of water resources. At
the of the year IWP will produce a proceeding of a national
IWRM workshop held on May 2001 and a report on Dialog
on Effective Water Governance and some brochures on
water information materials to disseminate information
on water issues.
Members.
These consist of representatives of government and non-government
institutions, private institutions, professional organizations,
individuals, academia, and interested
observers that are related to water. It is multi-disciplinary,
multi-sectoral and cross-regional in nature:
• It is not an integration of existing
organizations. Each member has its own autonomy and
still free to carry out its own programs.
• It is not a government organization and its
function is to coordinate, synchronize and facilitate
activities of its members.
• No need to be a full structured organization
but with a permanent secretariat with a term of 3 years.
• The Indonesian Water Partnership
is formed by all component of stakeholders of water
resources.

IATPI
(Ikatan Ahli Teknik Penyehatan Lingkungan Indonesia)
General
information. Ikatan Ahli Teknik Penyehatan
dan Teknik Lingkungan Indonesia (IATPI) or the
Indonesia Society of Sanitary and Environmental Engineers
was formed in October of 1997 by a group of alumni of
the Sanitary Engineering Department of the Bandung Institute
of Technology (ITB – Institut Teknologi Bandung).
Senior environmental engineering professors, like Prof.
Dr. Ir. Soepangat Soemarto, MSc; Dr. Ir. Benny Chatib,
MSc; and Ir. Hidayat Notosugondo are among the founding
members.
Mission. IATPI’s
founding members strongly believe that sanitary and
environmental engineering are professional disciplines
that are critical and strategic for Indonesia’s
national development. This conviction is evident in
IATPI’s primary mission to commit itself to through
active participation in national development in general
and specifically in the fields of sanitary and environmental
engineering.
Members. Currently,
IATPI’s membership includes more than 1000 sanitary
and environmental engineering professionals residing
in 26 provinces, working in various governmental, private,
academic, and research organizations.
Activities. Activities
that have been undertaken by IATPI include voluntary
social services to develop clean water facilities for
villages; and national and international seminars on
solid waste, urban drinking water, and other similar
topics. IATPI has also actively assisted the government
in developing national policies on urban environmental
planning, such as clean water, drainage, solid waste
and special planning.
