The Water Company of the City of
Malang (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum Kota Malang)
is a local company owned by the Municipality of Malang
with the objective of providing clean water to its citizens
through a piped system.

The production system consists
of:
a. Bulk water sources
b. A production unit which consists of the following
components:
• water intakes;
• pumping stations and pumping equipment;
• water treatment facilities, including chemical
disinfectants;
• bulk water meters; and
• transmission mains, including surfacing and
tunnels.

The distribution system consists of :
• a gravity system to service the upper zone,
and to balance the system using reservoirs; and
• a pumping system to service the lower zone.
To distribute water to its customers, the PDAM uses:
• distribution reservoirs;
• bulk distribution water meters; and
• distribution mains.
As of August 2002, the system covered
65.7% of the total population of the Municipality of
