Overview
PERPAMSI during the past twenty years have been assisted and working together with associations from several countries. The most important of these are the following three organizations:

1. VEWIN (Association of Water Supply Companies in the Netherlands)
There have been many twinning programs between Dutch and Indonesian Water Utilities between the mid eighties until 2000. Also annual seminars on specific topics were held in this period. Many PDAMs have benefited a lot from this cooperation and are now considered as the best performing PDAMs.

In 2000 the twinning arrangements were followed up by a more business –oriented approach, under management of Aquanet, a Dutch consulting company owned by the Dutch water utilities. This has resulted in various new programs, including the development of a Water Fund Indonesia, which is supporting new activities:
• lease household connections; and
• rehabilitation and operation of small water treatment plants.

The guiding principle of all these activities is "NO PROFIT NO LOSS", meaning that Dutch water utilities will not make profit on Indonesian consumers, but aim to recover their cost only. More information on these programs can be found under Aquanet.

2. IWA – International Water Association
This is a world-wide organization with a variety of members: water utilities, suppliers, consultants, students, etc. PERPAMSI is the National, representative member for Indonesia and in this capacity regularly joins international activities organized by IWA. IWA has a separate foundation, which is specifically focussing on supported water utilities in less-developed countries, and in this respect PERPAMSI received support in 1999 for the development of a business plan its Training Foundation.

3. MWA - Malaysian Water Association
PERPAMSI has already a long relation with Malaysia, which has resulted in several joined seminars, training programs and exchange visits, which have been beneficial to increase understanding. At this moment new activities for the region of South East Asia are under development under the umbrella of SEAWUN, a new organization, which includes Water Associations and Water utilities from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. More information on this cooperation can be found on the SEAWUN page.

Other international association who have been involved in the past / or still are are the following:
• AWWA - American Water Works Association
• DVGW - German Water and Gas Association
